Prayers for Prodigals

Parenting is often a hard and lonely road we walk. Having a prodigal child can make it even more isolated. Prayers for Prodigals is a wonderful resource for when you are feeling despair on your parenting journey. Each day is a verse to meditate on and a heartfelt prayer filled with scripture to uplifted encourage, and renew your weary soul.  I especially liked having prayers when it felt like my own prayers had run dry. To have pre written prayers for your child can be such an encouragement when you are feeling lost and hopeless.  This devotional will surely remind you of the power of prayer and the power of God to work in your life and your child’s.  #PrayersforProdigalsUpdatedandExpanded #NetGalley

The Story of Water by Caroline Saunders

The Story of Water by Caroline Saunders is such a treat! Take your children on a journey of how God uses water throughout the Bible with beautiful illustrations to illuminate these truths. From Genesis to Revelations, Caroline shows us how God uses water the rescue and redemption of His people. Each story (such as Noah’s Ark, the woman at the well, and Jesus’ baptism) is told in a way kids can understand and grasp.  I loved how at the end of the book, there was a recap of each story and discussion questions to go over together. I would recommend this book for toddlers to about age 8. Be encouraged and refreshed as you are reminded of God’s amazing plan for rescue and refreshment through the Living Water.  #TheStoryofWater #NetGalley

Liturgies for Hope

Liturgies for Hope are the prayers we all need in this turbulent and unknown times. Sometimes when you don’t know the words to pray, reciting the heart of another’s laments, joys, hopes, and pain can be peaceful and help you to put words to your own unexpressed feelings. It’s a springboard for a deeper time of being with God.  These prayers were like a balm to my soul when I was unable to put a finger to what I was feeling and thinking for a myriad of daily things both big and small.  In “A Liturgy for the Aftermath of a Crisis,” I found great comfort and a sense of being seen when the authors wrote: “Would You walk this road of recovery with us, speaking peace to our fragile, forgetful minds, refreshing us with the truth that we are always sustained by Your hand?” This is just a small sampling of the truth, hope, and comfort that you will find in these pages. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to jumpstart their prayer life, infuse hope into pain, celebrate the joy of the

Fostered by Tori Hope Peterson

Fostered by Tori Hope Peterson is an incredible glimpse into the world of foster care. It’s a picture of the reality of living in a grey world, but all through the filter of the hope of a true Father and His good ways.  Fostered is Tori’s story (good, bad, and in between) of life in the foster care system and the broken, painful, and yet at times beautiful parts of family woven into it all.  Her writing style is captivating and draws you in with her authenticity and grace. Her story is at times hard to read, but I think it is essential reading for Christians. When we talk about foster care, children in foster care, and how does following Christ fit into it all…we must hear and believe the stories of former and present children in foster care. To fix a broken system takes more than just “I’m praying for you.” We must come around the entire family with love, care, and resources to help our children thrive and succeed. Trauma is real and how it plays out into the lives of children today i

My Body Is Not A Prayer Request

Wow! “My Body Is Not A Prayer Request” is an insightful, humbling, and hopeful book. I feel privileged to take a look inside the heart and mind of a disabled person. I set aside my preconceived notions of disability and was met with beauty and wisdom I would have missed without reading this book. This quote is just too good to miss: “To assume that my disability needs to be erased in order for me to live an abundant life is disturbing not only because of what it says about me but also because of what it reveals about people’s notions of God. I bear the image of the Alpha and the Omega. My disabled body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. I have the mind of Christ. There’s no caveat to those promises. I don’t have a junior holy spirit because I am disabled. To suggest that I am anything less than sanctified and redeemed is to suppress the image of God in my disabled body and to limit how God is already at work through my life. Maybe we need to be freed not from disability but from the noti

Bible Promises and Prayers for Children

Bible Promises and Prayers for Children is a powerful and useful book for families. I loved each section and felt like the size of each devotional made it so it was not overwhelming for my family to do together. It’s a privilege and blessing to pray over and with my children and I’m grateful for this book to be able to have a quick and easy way to impart truth, love, and encouragement into my kids.  Thank you to Net Galley for this copy, my opinions are my own.
